Bethel's History

Bethel began in 1963 as an outreach for the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church who saw a need. They feld that God was calling them to provide Sunday School and Worship Services to the many children and their families in the area south of Winkler. Bethel has always had a strong focus on volunteer ministry. We have vibrant Sunday School, Youth, Care Group and AWANA programs which are almost entirely volunteer driven.

-The sod turning ceremony for our original building took place on July 23, 1964
- Our church began with 48 members.

Bethel’s New Building Project Begins

On Sunday May 9 the Bethel Church family gathered in the south parking lot in beautiful sunshine to formally begin the building project with a sod-turning.

Dave Fehr, Peter Klassen and John Peters spoke prior to the formal turning of the shovel. Pastor Randy led in a Prayer committing the undertaking to the Lord.

The end result will be a new place for worship, a nursery, a multi-purpose room, a new bigger library and offices.

The goal is that the project will be completed by Easter of 2011.
